The Start You Didn’t Imagine — Beginnings don’t determine endings. Even if the year began with challenges, new opportunities and possibilities are ahead. Waves crashing against rocks, symbolizing unexpected change.

Unexpected Beginnings

The Start you didn’t imagine. Maybe you are starting the New Year not the way you imagined. Perhaps you have been laid off from your job, you lost a loved one, or ended a relationship, and you are struggling to move forward. Could it be that you are in a season of transition, and you don’t know the next step? Maybe you are in a wilderness season, going around in circles, and you don’t know what to do.

Beginnings Don’t Define You

The way this year is starting doesn’t define you, nor is it a prediction of the future. It is just a matter of perspective. Did you know you are at the starting line of the 2026 marathon, faced with endless possibilities, new experiences, a new start, new relationships, and opportunities are waiting for you. Don’t be discouraged by how you are starting the year and what it looks like. Scripture tells us in Isaiah 61:2 and 3, God will give us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Shifting our focus from what feels overwhelming, the uncertainty, and the challenges to God’s promise offers us hope that he is still working in our lives.

You Are Not Alone in This Season.

If you feel overwhelmed by the unknown, nervous, or anxious about the future, I want to remind you that you are not alone. Deut. 31:8 tells us Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will never fail you nor abandon you. People may abandon us in our moments of despair and pain, or in our wilderness season as we try to find our way, but not God. You may have cried, felt alone, or felt abandoned by family or friends. What is behind you doesn’t compare to the joy, peace, breakthrough, and blessings that are waiting for you!

Moving Forward in Faith

Take this advice of the apostle Paul, in Philippians 3:13, ” But I focus on this one thing, forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. If you’re ready to move forward and not just feel inspired, but take steps in faith to overcome what is in front of you, stay connected! You don’t have to do this alone. We will walk through this together.
