The Start You Didn’t Imagine — Beginnings don’t determine endings. Even if the year began with challenges, new opportunities and possibilities are ahead. Waves crashing against rocks, symbolizing unexpected change.

Facing unexpected change. This post continues my reflections on navigating life’s transitions. You can read the earlier reflections here. The Start You Didn’t Imagine: Beginnings Don’t Determine Endings and When Life Doesn’t Go As Planned

Strength in Identity

Life doesn’t come with a schedule of dates for its unexpected challenges and setbacks for our convenience. We don’t need a calendar reminder when we are strong in our identity in Christ. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4.

Embracing God’s truth that we are overcomers through Christ gives us a new perspective on life’s transitions and trials. We are empowered to believe and fully trust in God’s faithfulness to see us through every challenge and setback. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished. Phillipians 1: 6.  Even when we know this truth, living it out can be difficult when life feels uncertain, and we don’t know our next step.

Surrendering Control in The Unknown

Letting go of control over the outcome is difficult, especially when you are facing a challenge or setback, are uncertain about your next step, and feel overwhelmed and fearful about the future. From experience, I know surrendering doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process of embracing faith, letting go of fear, and trusting the next step, even when the future is uncertain. When our faith is greater than our fear, we embrace our identity as an overcomer and surrender to the process with renewed strength to stand firm in the unknown and trust in God’s faithfulness.

Knowing Your Identity in Christ

God has already declared our true identity. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. The power in you is greater than your challenges, obstacles, and setbacks. When we believe the truth of who we are in Christ, our thoughts and actions align with that truth. As we continue to walk in faith, trust, and surrender, we learn to live from this truth. Stand firm on God’s truth and embrace the power within you!
